TALIA HAYKIN
Founder | CEO
Until meeting Daniel, Talia’s knowledge of cider was limited to farm stand finds and the occasional impulse buy at a liquor store. But together, they discovered a passion for apples—their history, their incredible variety, and their deep roots in American cider-making. As they grew their family, so too did their love for cider.
Before diving into the world of cider full-time, Talia had a successful career as a Denver-based writer and social media strategist. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre and Dance Performance from Jacksonville University and a Master’s degree in Applied Communication (Public Relations & Marketing) from the University of Denver. Her career included roles as Public Relations Director for Ballet Nouveau Colorado and Chief Marketing Officer for the Robert E. Loup Jewish Community Center, along with extensive freelance work in social media marketing, content creation, and website development.
In March 2020, Talia transitioned to running Haykin Family Cider full-time. Around HFC, it’s a running joke that she does everything but make the cider—from sales and shipping to taxes and HR. She’s even been known to man the bottler and fix the label machine when needed.
In her rare moments of "free time," Talia enjoys tending to the family garden and wrangling her little crew—affectionately known as the Chief Sales Officer, CEO in Training, Assistant to the Assistant Regional Manager, and Mascot. She also occasionally blogs at Talia, She Wrote.
DANIEL HAYKIN
Founder | Cidermaker
Daniel’s journey to cider started with a love for champagne and sparkling wine, but his drive to make the best cider? That came from trying to impress Talia. Through constant trial and error, they landed on a style that was sparkling wine-like, unique, and exactly what they loved to drink.
Daniel’s commitment to excellence is evident in every step of the process—from building strong relationships with growers and carefully selecting apples to meticulous production methods and thoughtful packaging. His depth of knowledge runs deep, but if you ask him, he’ll keep it simple:
"I worked on Wall Street, moved to Denver, and now help grow our clients’ future with my father. Oh, and I make cider."
A University of Rochester graduate, Daniel spent several years on Wall Street working for Moody’s and Lehman Brothers before transitioning to his current role as an investment advisor at Haykin Wealth Management, where he works alongside his father.
In his free time, you’ll find Daniel doing CrossFit, working in the family garden, building LEGOs with the Chief Sales Officer, wrestling with the CEO in Training, and making the Assistant to the Assistant Regional Manager giggle.
DAVID
Chief Sales Officer | fourth Grader
David, at nine years old, is already a big fan of apples—so much so that it was one of his very first words (right after “uh oh”). He loves helping his papa at the cidery and has even been known to climb into a 500-gallon tank, proudly declaring, “This is my cider house.” His love for funky apples runs deep—he happily eats a whole crab apple every morning on his way to school.
When he’s not taste-testing apples, David enjoys playing Monopoly or Chess with his papa, reading chapter books with his mom, riding his bike, and throwing Soba her monkey. He’s also either a ninja or Power Ranger alongside his brother and sister. Right now, he’s obsessed with math tricks—but still not sold on long division, handwriting, or spelling tests.
EVA
CEO in Training |
First grader
Eva made her grand entrance less than a week after our tasting room opened in February 2018—perfect timing for a future cider enthusiast! She loves apples and finds it extremely frustrating that she’s not allowed to have cider yet. Her favorite part of visiting the cider house? Getting her “spwarkwing water.”
She adores doing anything her big brother does—much to his annoyance—and is often leading the charge in their Power Rangers battles. When she’s not in superhero mode, Eva spends her time applying makeup, packing up purses, drawing beautiful pictures, and adding to her ever-growing collection of flamingos and unicorns (which now outnumber Ted the Teddy Bear by about 150 to 1).
She’s still thrilled to be both a LITTLE sister and a BIG sister—the best of both worlds!
Avi
Assistant to the Assistant regional Manager | Cute toddler
Avi is a full-fledged member of the Haykin team and the happiest little guy around—spreading smiles wherever he goes. Whether he’s a Power Ranger or a Ninja Turtle at the moment, he’s getting pretty skilled with his plastic katana.
His laugh is still the best sound in the world, but when a cider is opened, he means business. Not only does he demand his own “dink”, but he’ll also seriously inquire whether it’s “pommeau” or the special drink (our new non-alcoholic cider).
SOBA SCHNOODLE
Official Cider Mascot
Soba excels at looking cute and barking at anyone helping press apples—supervision is her specialty. While she’s not exactly a fan of eating apples, she takes her role as Official Cider Mascot very seriously… when she’s not napping in the sun.
As for free time—who are we kidding? She has the most free time in the company. Her favorite activities include carrying her beloved monkey around, taking endless naps, and patiently waiting for her siblings to drop food.
